Well, a lazy day is a rare occurrence for me, and I have not experienced enough of them to have developed a favorite way to spend them. But, this morning, it was cold and rainy outside, so I spent the day inside. I suppose that what I did during that time would qualify as “lazy day activities.”
What are lazy day activities anyway? Why must they be performed on lazy days only? How can a day be lazy when a day does not have a mind of its own?
Anyway, today I laid on my couch and read Factotum by Charles Bukowski from start to finish while my cats took naps on top of me. I took breaks to make coffee and use the bathroom. Including these breaks, it ook me about four hours to complete the book. Slightly over two hundred pages. That’s about fifty pages an hour. Not bad.
My fiction-reading speed has increased by a tremendous amount since I took a tip from Elmore Leonard and began skipping all the hooptedoodle.
My grade school teachers and tutors would be so proud of me.
